Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Ortho RN for a night shift position requiring at least 1 year of inpatient hospital experience and EKG/cardiac drip proficiency.

Details

• Work on an 18-bed Medical Surgical Orthopedic unit undergoing expansion
• Care for post-surgical patients with an emphasis on orthopedic procedures
• Night shift schedule, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, 4x12 format
• Every other weekend required (Saturday and Sunday)
• No on-call requirements
• Float to other Med Surg areas as needed
• Uses standard nursing equipment found on a Med Surg Ortho unit
• Epic EMR experience highly preferred

Requirements

• Active RN license (Missouri or Compact)
• Current BLS certification
• Minimum 1 year of recent inpatient hospital experience required
• Must be able to manage all cardiac drips
• Must be able to operate an EKG machine
• No employment gaps of 90+ days within the past 12 months

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for all age groups
• Coordinate patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize comfort and outcomes
• Night shift staff orient on day shift and must be available for the entire orientation week
• Black scrubs required
• Flu vaccination required for all travelers from November 1 through April 1 unless client-approved exemption
• Must work at least one major winter holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year's Day)
• Up to 5 days of requested time off per 13-week period may be automatically approved, with additional days subject to leader approval and made up at the end of the assignment
• Block scheduling accommodated when possible based on unit needs, though never guaranteed
• Local candidates accepted, though local bill rate differs from travel rate
• Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are limited to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts before requiring a 1-year separation or transfer outside the radius
• First-time travelers may be considered
