Job Title: Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor & Delivery (L&D)

Location:  Nashville, TN 37203
Contract Length: 13 Weeks
Shift: Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Schedule: 36 Hours/Week (3x12)
Position Type: Travel/Contract


Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week travel assignment at Centennial Women's & Children's Hospital in Nashville, TN. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery experience and be confident managing laboring patients, newborn care, and cesarean section procedures in a fast-paced obstetric environment.

This position requires excellent clinical judgment, strong fetal monitoring skills, and the ability to provide compassionate, patient-centered care throughout the labor and delivery process.

Unit Overview

  • 12-Bed Labor & Delivery Unit
  • Patient Ratio: 1:2
  • RN, Unit Secretary, and OR Tech support
  • EMR: Meditech
  • Documentation System: CPN
  • Travelers float first when needed

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to laboring mothers and newborns.
  • Monitor maternal and fetal well-being throughout labor and delivery.
  • Assist with vaginal deliveries and cesarean sections.
  • Circulate and recover C-section patients.
  • Provide immediate newborn care following delivery.
  • Assist with procedures including D&C, cerclage placement, epidural anesthesia, and tub labor.
  • Educate patients and families using shared decision-making practices.
  • Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, pediatric teams, and multidisciplinary staff.
  • Maintain accurate documentation using Meditech and CPN systems.

Required Qualifications

  • Active RN License
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery experience
  • Current AHA BLS Certification
  • Current ACLS Certification
  • Current NRP Certification
  • AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring(Advanced not accepted)OR CEFM Certification
  • Experience caring for laboring patients and newborns
  • Experience circulating and recovering C-section patients

  • Scrub Colors: Ceil Blue, Navy Blue, or Gray (hospital does not provide scrubs)
