Position Summary
The RN provides comprehensive patient care within the scope of practice defined by the Oregon State Board of Nursing. The RN applies the nursing process, provides patient and family education, documents care, and collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate and deliver effective patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including physical, psychosocial, learning, cultural/age-related, and discharge-planning needs.
- Develop and update individualized nursing care plans based on patient assessments and diagnoses.
- Provide direct patient care, including:
- Activities of daily living and fall-risk management
- Medication administration
- Skin assessments and wound care
- Pain management
- Operation of infusion pumps, monitors, catheters, drains, transfer equipment, and other patient-care devices
- Assistance with invasive and non-invasive procedures
- Educate patients and families regarding illness, medications, diagnostic tests, disease prevention, and wellness.
- Assign, supervise, and direct unlicensed assistive personnel as appropriate.
- Coordinate care with physicians and the interdisciplinary team.
- Accurately and timely document assessments, interventions, care, and education in the electronic medical record.
- Evaluate patient outcomes and communicate changes in patient condition to the care team.
- Respond appropriately to patient emergencies and changing clinical needs.
- Maintain infection control, safety, confidentiality, and organizational standards.
- Remain flexible and willing to work in varied clinical areas as assigned.

License & Certifications
For MCU, PSU, IMCU, APU:
- Active Oregon RN license.
- AHA Healthcare Provider BLS.
- AHA ACLS required or must be obtained within 6 months.
- Organization-approved workplace violence training required or must be completed within the specified grace period.
For ED and ICU:
- Active Oregon RN license.
- AHA Healthcare Provider BLS.
- AHA ACLS required or must be obtained within 6 months.
- PALS.
- TNCC.
- Organization-approved workplace violence training required or must be completed within the specified grace period.
Experience
- Recent acute-care hospital experience within the past 5 years is required.
- Critical Care or Emergency Department experience is preferred.
- Must be comfortable working with varied patient populations and adapting to different clinical areas.
Oregon Acute Care RN opportunity — recent acute-care hospital experience required, Oregon RN license + BLS, ACLS required, with PALS/TNCC required for ED & ICU; critical care/ED experience preferred.
