Job Title

Respiratory Therapist (Night Shift)

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide intensive respiratory care including operation of invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizer devices as physician-prescribed
  • Perform arterial punctures, suctioning (oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal), oximetry and capnography monitoring, pulmonary function studies, and chest physiotherapy
  • Perform and interpret 12-Lead EKGs, conduct routine review of chest x-rays, and assist with procedures such as bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomies, and chest tube placement
  • Perform insertion and removal of endotracheal and tracheostomy tubes using freehand technique and/or video laryngoscope; conduct cardiopulmonary resuscitation per BLS and ACLS guidelines
  • Set up, self-test, operate, and monitor mechanical ventilation equipment; assist with preventative maintenance and repair as needed
  • Accurately document all treatments, patient responses, and respiratory therapy charges; communicate patient status during shift-to-shift handoff rounds
Required Qualifications
  • Active Respiratory Therapist license within the applicable scope of practice
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification
  • Demonstrated ability to operate invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment with minimal supervision
  • Proficiency in arterial puncture, pulmonary function testing, and tracheostomy care
  • Ability to perform 12-Lead EKGs and basic arrhythmia recognition
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Experience in a moderate complexity laboratory setting with knowledge of specimen handling, quality controls, and documentation protocols
  • Familiarity with PleurX catheter drainage or similar chest drainage devices
  • Experience assisting with advanced respiratory procedures in an acute or critical care environment
