    Key Responsibilities
    • Provides intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed, within the scope of professional licensure and with minimal supervision
    • Conducts physician-prescribed treatments using invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizer devices to administer prescribed medications, humidification, ventilation, and oxygenation
    • Performs arterial puncture, oximetry and capnography monitoring, pulmonary function studies, chest physiotherapy, suctioning, and 12-Lead EKG with basic arrhythmia recognition
    • Assists with respiratory-related procedures including bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomies, and chest tube placement; performs tracheostomy care including insertion and removal of tracheostomy tubes
    • Sets up, self-tests, operates, and monitors mechanical ventilation equipment; assists with preventative maintenance and repair as needed
    • Records all treatment information and patient responses in respiratory care records and the patient chart; maintains accurate respiratory therapy charging and communicates patient status during shift-to-shift handoff rounds
    Required Qualifications
    • Active Respiratory Therapist license in the state of Pennsylvania
    • BLS and ACLS certification required
    • Ability to operate various ventilatory, oxygen, aerosol, and nebulizer equipment
    • Competency in arterial puncture, endotracheal intubation via free-hand technique and/or video laryngoscope, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation
    • Ability to perform routine review of chest x-rays and pulmonary function studies
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • Experience with moderate complexity laboratory testing protocols including specimen handling, quality controls, and documentation
    • Familiarity with PleurX catheter drainage or similar devices
    • Experience communicating clinical findings with attending and pulmonary physicians in an acute care environment
