    Respiratory Therapist – Night Shift

    Key Responsibilities
    • Provide intensive respiratory care including operation of invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizer devices as physician prescribed
    • Perform arterial punctures, oximetry and capnography monitoring, pulmonary function studies, chest physiotherapy, and patient suctioning via oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal methods
    • Perform and interpret 12-Lead EKGs, conduct routine chest x-ray reviews, and assist with procedures such as bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomies, and chest tube placement
    • Perform tracheostomy care including insertion and removal of tracheostomy tubes, and insertion and removal of endotracheal tubes via freehand technique and/or video laryngoscope
    • Set up, self-test, operate, and monitor mechanical ventilation equipment; assist with preventative maintenance and repair as needed
    • Accurately document all treatments, patient responses, and respiratory therapy charges; communicate findings to attending and pulmonary physicians and participate in shift-to-shift handoff communication
    Required Qualifications
    • Active Respiratory Therapist license or eligibility to practice in South Carolina
    • Current BLS and ACLS certification
    • Proficiency with invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment, oxygen delivery systems, and aerosol and nebulizer devices
    • Ability to perform arterial punctures, pulmonary function studies, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation per BLS and ACLS guidelines
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision and within the full scope of a professional Respiratory Therapist license
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • Experience in a moderate complexity laboratory setting with knowledge of specimen handling, quality controls, and documentation requirements
    • Familiarity with PleurX catheter drainage procedures and video laryngoscope systems
    • Experience with shift-to-shift walking rounds and hands-off communication protocols
