    Respiratory Therapist – Night Shift

    Key Responsibilities
    • Provide intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed, within the scope of professional licensure and with minimal supervision; evaluate patients and recommend treatment plans
    • Operate invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizer devices to administer prescribed medications, humidification, ventilation, and oxygenation
    • Perform arterial puncture, oximetry, capnography monitoring, pulmonary function studies, 12-Lead EKG, and basic arrhythmia recognition according to policy
    • Perform tracheostomy care including insertion and removal of tracheostomy tubes (emergent and non-emergent), as well as insertion and removal of endotracheal tubes via free-hand technique and/or video laryngoscope system
    • Assist with respiratory-related procedures such as bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomies, and chest tube placement; perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning by various methods
    • Accurately document all treatments, patient responses, and respiratory therapy charges; communicate patient status during shift-to-shift walking rounds and with attending and pulmonary physicians
    Required Qualifications
    • Active Respiratory Therapist license or certification required
    • BLS and ACLS certification required
    • Ability to operate and maintain mechanical ventilation equipment, including set-up and self-testing
    • Competency in performing arterial blood gas analysis and interpreting results to determine ventilation efficiency
    • Ability to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation in accordance with BLS and ACLS guidelines
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • Experience in a moderate complexity laboratory setting with knowledge of specimen handling, quality controls, and equipment maintenance
    • Familiarity with PleurX catheter drainage or similar chest drainage devices
    • Experience with video laryngoscope systems for endotracheal intubation
