Key Responsibilities
- Administer respiratory therapies including oxygen therapy, aerosol treatments, and ventilator management, ensuring proper patient response and safety.
- Conduct patient assessments, correlating care with patient needs, and monitor responses to respiratory treatments including pharmacological interventions.
- Perform and document Arterial Blood Gas (ABG) punctures accurately, reporting results promptly.
- Follow respiratory protocols, ensuring adherence to safety guidelines and regulatory standards during all procedures.
- Manage ventilator settings and airway maintenance, including insertion of arterial lines and intubations, to ensure optimal patient comfort and safety.
- Assist physicians with invasive and non-invasive procedures, pulmonary function studies, and cardiac and pulmonary stress tests.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist required.
- RRT credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) required.
- Active New Mexico (NM) Respiratory Therapy license required.
- ACLS, BLS, and NRP certifications required — candidates must be willing to obtain NRP before or immediately upon start if not already held.
- Pediatric and neonatal experience required.
- Proficiency with EMR systems; facility uses MedHost.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with ventilator management in both adult and pediatric/neonatal populations.
- Familiarity with respiratory protocols in an acute care or hospital setting.
- Experience performing arterial line insertions and intubations.
