Key Responsibilities Provides cardiopulmonary function testing for patients from newborn to 21 years of age, integrating emotional, psychosocial, educational, and developmental needs of the patient and family. May serve as a departmental team leader, overseeing day-to-day operations of a designated clinical area including clinical, technical, and administrative responsibilities under supervisory guidance.
Provides cardiopulmonary function testing for patients from newborn to 21 years of age, integrating emotional, psychosocial, educational, and developmental needs of the patient and family.
Independently performs procedures per national and departmental standards, including spirometry, plethysmography, diffusing capacity (DLCO), simple pulmonary stress test (6-minute walk), exhaled nitric oxide testing, metabolic testing, impulse oscillometry (IOS), aerosolized pentamidine therapy, methacholine challenge, and nitrogen washout.
Monitors and addresses learning needs, comprehension, understanding, and compliance of patients and families regarding treatment and testing.
Provides non-critical respiratory care including patient assessment, aerosol therapy, patient education, equipment management, and airway assessment and management.
Participates in care planning and implementation, suggesting alternatives that lead to desired clinical outcomes.
May serve as a departmental team leader, overseeing day-to-day operations of a designated clinical area including clinical, technical, and administrative responsibilities under supervisory guidance.
Required Qualifications
RRT credential required; CRTs will not be accepted.
Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT) experience required.
Pediatric experience required; NICU experience is not required.
PALS certification (American Heart Association only) required.
Active, valid RRT license must be in hand at time of submittal; candidates without a license in hand will not be accepted.
Must be able to successfully pass a Basic Windows Skills Assessment at 80% or higher.
Preferred Experience / Skills
Experience with Epic EMR.
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Enthusiasm and willingness to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
