    Key Responsibilities
    • Provide intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed, including operation of invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizer devices
    • Perform chest physiotherapy, suctioning (oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal), oximetry and capnography monitoring, and pulmonary function studies
    • Perform arterial puncture, 12-Lead EKG, basic arrhythmia recognition, and routine review of patient chest x-rays
    • Perform tracheostomy care including insertion and removal of tracheostomy tubes, and assist with procedures such as bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomies, and chest tube placement
    • Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation according to BLS and ACLS guidelines, including insertion and removal of endotracheal tubes via free hand technique and/or video laryngoscope
    • Document all treatments, patient responses, and respiratory therapy charges accurately in patient records and communicate findings to attending and pulmonary physicians
    Required Qualifications
    • Current Virginia Respiratory Therapist license required
    • Active BLS and ACLS certifications
    • Ability to operate and maintain mechanical ventilation equipment and perform equipment self-tests
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision within the scope of professional licensure
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • Experience assisting with advanced procedures such as bronchoscopy and percutaneous tracheostomies
    • Familiarity with moderate complexity laboratory testing policies and procedures including specimen handling and quality controls
    • Experience with PleurX catheter drainage and video laryngoscope systems
