    Key Responsibilities
    • Provide intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed, within the scope of professional licensure and with minimal supervision
    • Operate invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizer devices to administer prescribed medications, humidification, ventilation, and oxygenation
    • Perform chest physiotherapy, suctioning, oximetry, capnography monitoring, pulmonary function studies, arterial punctures, and 12-Lead EKGs with basic arrhythmia recognition
    • Perform tracheostomy care including insertion and removal of tracheostomy tubes, and assist with procedures such as bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomies, and chest tube placement
    • Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation per BLS and ACLS guidelines, including endotracheal tube insertion and removal via freehand technique and/or video laryngoscope
    • Record all treatment information and patient responses in respiratory care records and patient charts; communicate effectively with attending and pulmonary physicians regarding therapy outcomes
    Required Qualifications
    • Active, current Virginia (VA) Respiratory Therapist license
    • BLS certification required
    • ACLS certification required
    • Ability to operate and maintain mechanical ventilation equipment and perform equipment self-tests
    • Ability to work night shifts with minimal supervision
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • Experience in intensive or acute care respiratory therapy settings
    • Familiarity with moderate complexity laboratory testing policies and procedures including pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic phases
    • Experience with PleurX catheter drainage and advanced airway management techniques
