    Key Responsibilities
    • Conducts physician-prescribed respiratory treatments including operation of invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizer devices to administer prescribed medications, humidification, ventilation, and oxygenation
    • Performs arterial puncture, oximetry, capnography monitoring, pulmonary function studies, chest physiotherapy, and patient suctioning via oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal methods
    • Performs insertion and removal of endotracheal and tracheostomy tubes (emergent and non-emergent), and assists with procedures such as bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomies, and chest tube placement
    • Performs 12-Lead EKG, basic arrhythmia recognition, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation in accordance with BLS and ACLS guidelines
    • Sets up, self-tests, operates, and monitors mechanical ventilation equipment; assists with preventative maintenance and repair as needed
    • Documents all treatments, patient responses, and respiratory therapy charges accurately in patient records and communicates findings to attending and pulmonary physicians
    Required Qualifications
    • Current, active Virginia Respiratory Therapist license
    • BLS certification required
    • ACLS certification required
    • Ability to operate a wide range of ventilatory, oxygen, aerosol, and nebulizer equipment with minimal supervision
    • Competency in arterial puncture, pulmonary function studies, and moderate complexity laboratory testing procedures where applicable
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • Experience with video laryngoscope systems for endotracheal intubation
    • Familiarity with PleurX catheter drainage procedures
    • Prior experience in an acute care or intensive care setting
