Responsibilities
- Provide NICU respiratory care, including ventilator management, airway suctioning, and therapy administration for neonates and premature infants as ordered.
- Initiate, adjust, and monitor therapies such as high-flow nasal cannula, CPAP/BiPAP, and pharmacologic aerosolized treatments; assess patient responses and modify plans as directed.
- Collect, analyze, and document patient data (vital signs, oxygenation, ventilator parameters, ABG trends) and communicate changes to the NICU team.
- Maintain and troubleshoot respiratory equipment; ensure adherence to infection control protocols and patient safety standards.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other disciplines; participate in rounds and document care in the electronic health record.
- Provide education and support to families and care teams as appropriate; participate in quality improvement activities within the NICU.
Requirements
- Licensure: Georgia Registered Respiratory Therapist (GA RRT licensure) and NBRC RRT credential.
- Certifications: AHA BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of recent NICU-specific respiratory therapy experience.
