Job Summary:
Respiratory Therapist (RT) Pediatric Bangor, ME. This position involves providing respiratory care to pediatric and adult patients in a Level II Trauma Center with a focus on critical care, airway and ventilator management, and ventilator protocols. The role requires flexibility to work rotating shifts, including days and nights, and may involve on-call duties. The assignment is scheduled to start on 10/20/2026 and conclude on 01/16/2027.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts with a minimum of 36 hours per week. Shifts are rotating between day (0645-1915) and night (1845-0715) shifts. Most needs are on nights, with potential for variable shifts.
- Required Qualifications: Valid Respiratory Therapist (RT) certification or Associates degree in Respiratory Therapy; must be Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) with extensive experience; minimum of 2+ years as a Respiratory Therapist; location requirements include work authorization to practice in Bangor, ME.
- Preferred Qualifications: NICU/PICU/Pediatric experience with previous NICU/PICU experience required if position is posted for NICU/PICU/Peds; NICU/PICU/RRT certification; NRP certification; experience with oscillators (3100 Sensormatic and Drager ventilator); familiarity with devices like Servo U, Servo I, Hamilton T1, Trilogy, V60, V30, EV300; working knowledge of electronic charting system Cerner.
- Additional Information: The position involves responsiveness to protocols-driven environments, airway and ventilator management, ABG analysis, non-invasive ventilation, and emergency response procedures. Orientation includes one general shift with an RT Educator, plus additional shifts per trained unit. Expected patient diagnoses include COPD, CHF, COVID-19, trauma, pneumonia, lung cancer, stroke, and more. Scrub color can be any professional pattern, and free on-site parking is provided.
- Float: Float to other trained units may be required.
- Support: Department utilizes various ventilators and devices, supporting adult and pediatric care. The lead/charge manager and assistant manager oversee the team, with training and orientation provided.
- Travel and On-call: Voluntary on-call with a window of 2 hours before and after shifts. Most needs are on night shifts.
