Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a Level 4 NICU position at a children's hospital requiring RRT certification and NICU/PICU experience.

Details

  • Work in a Level 4 NICU within a children's hospital setting
  • Neonatal and pediatric patient population, with preferred cardiac PICU experience
  • Day shift 4x12 hours (7:00-19:00)
  • Every other weekend required
  • Every other holiday required, must work 2 of 3 winter holidays
  • Unit uses a self-scheduling model, though desired schedules are not guaranteed
  • Assignment length of 13 or 26 weeks with option for 36 or 48 hours per week
  • Utilizes Nitric Oxide (iNO), oscillating and high frequency jet ventilators, Bubble CPAP, and neonatal/pediatric airway management equipment
  • Assists with high risk deliveries and neonatal inter-departmental transports

Requirements

  • Active RRT certification required
  • BLS and NRP certifications required
  • PALS certification preferred
  • ACCS certification preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of NICU and PICU experience required
  • Level 4 NICU experience required
  • Cardiac PICU experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • BSN preferred
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • VA state license required; license pending accepted if candidate holds another active state license to obtain temporary license before start (license required if applicable)
  • Two professional references required
  • Copies of required certifications required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide respiratory care to critically ill neonatal and pediatric patients including ventilator management, airway management, and medication delivery
  • Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) as part of clinical decision-making
  • Float within scope of practice as needed based on clinical experience
  • Complete specialty-specific orientation modules during onboarding
  • No radius restriction for this position, local candidates accepted
  • Previous UVA Health employees must have 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning
  • External travelers may not exceed 365 total assignment days and are ineligible to return after reaching this limit
  • Maximum 40 hours of RTO per 13-week contract, must be disclosed at time of consideration
  • Any planned time off between offer and start date must be disclosed to coordinate an appropriate start date
