Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a Level IV NICU position at a children's hospital, requiring RRT certification and NICU/PICU experience.

Details

  • Work in the NICU at a children's hospital
  • Level IV NICU patient population with cardiac PICU exposure
  • Day shift, 4x12 hours from 7:00 to 19:00
  • Can offer 36 or 48 hours per week
  • Every other weekend and every other holiday required
  • Unit uses a self-scheduling model, though preferred schedules are not guaranteed
  • Floating within scope of practice required as needed
  • Epic experience required for float pool and inpatient units

Requirements

  • RRT certification required
  • BLS and NRP certifications required
  • PALS certification preferred
  • ACCS certification preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of NICU and PICU experience required
  • Level IV NICU experience required
  • Cardiac PICU experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • BSN preferred
  • VA state license required (license required if applicable)
  • Must hold another state license to be eligible for a temporary VA license if pending
  • Skilled in medication delivery systems including aerosol setups and MDIs
  • Experience with high frequency jet ventilator and oscillating ventilator
  • Experience in neonatal/pediatric equipment including Bubble CPAP, CPAP/Nasal CPAP/BIPAP, and HFNC
  • Skilled in airway management including intubation assist, extubation, and tracheostomy care
  • Ability to interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs)
  • Two professional references required
  • Copies of all required certifications required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide respiratory care to critically ill neonatal and pediatric patients
  • Assist with high-risk deliveries and neonatal inter-departmental transports
  • Care for patients with conditions such as ARDS, aspiration, cystic fibrosis, pneumonia, and bronchopulmonary dysplasia
  • Perform pulmonary hygiene, sputum specimen collection, and ventilator management
  • Manager will explain the self-scheduling model during the interview call
  • First-time travelers are not required for this position
  • Maximum of 40 hours of RTO allowed per 13-week contract, with all RTO disclosed prior to submission
  • Any vacation time planned between sign date and start date must be disclosed to arrange an appropriate start date
  • Previous UVA Health employees must disclose their employment history
  • Permanent staff or internal travelers require a 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning
  • External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return after reaching this limit
  • No radius or mileage restriction applies to this position
