Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a NICU position at a children's hospital requiring Level 4 NICU experience and RRT certification.

Details

  • Work in the NICU at a children's hospital
  • Level 4 NICU patient population
  • Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
  • 36 or 48 hours per week available
  • Every other weekend required
  • Must work 2 of the 3 winter holidays
  • Unit uses a self-scheduling model, though desired schedules are not guaranteed
  • Must float within scope of practice as needed

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of NICU and PICU experience required
  • Level 4 NICU experience required
  • Cardiac PICU experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • RRT certification required
  • BLS and NRP certifications required
  • PALS certification preferred
  • ACCS certification preferred
  • VA state license required if applicable
  • BSN preferred
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Experience with medication delivery systems including aerosol setups and MDI
  • Experience with neonatal/pediatric ventilators including oscillating and high frequency jet ventilators
  • Experience with CPAP/Nasal CPAP/BIPAP and bubble CPAP
  • Experience assisting with high-risk deliveries and neonatal transports
  • Airway management skills including intubation assist, extubation, and suctioning
  • Ability to interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs)
  • Experience caring for patients with ARDS, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, and respiratory distress syndrome

Additional Information

  • Provide respiratory therapy services to critically ill neonatal and pediatric patients in the NICU
  • Perform pulmonary hygiene, tracheostomy care, and ventilator management
  • Assist with bronchoscopy and high-risk delivery procedures
  • Administer nebulizer treatments and various inhaled medications
  • Complete specialty-specific orientation modules during onboarding
  • Candidates with no prior travel experience will be considered
  • Previous UVA Health employees must have a 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning as a traveler
  • External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days at this facility
  • Maximum 40 hours of RTO per 13-week contract, which must be disclosed at time of consideration
  • Any planned time off between offer acceptance and start date must be disclosed
