Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a NICU position at a children's hospital, requiring Level 4 NICU experience and RRT certification.

Details

  • Work in the NICU at a children's hospital teaching facility
  • 13-week contract assignment
  • Day shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00 AM-7:00 PM)
  • 36 or 48 hour scheduling options available
  • Every other weekend and every other holiday coverage required
  • Unit uses a self-scheduling model, though desired schedules are not guaranteed
  • Float within scope of practice as needed
  • Utilizes equipment including Bubble CPAP, High Frequency Jet Ventilator, Oscillating Ventilator, Nitric Oxide (iNO), and neonatal transport equipment
  • Cares for patients with conditions including BPD, RDS, ARDS, cystic fibrosis, and fresh tracheostomy

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of Level 4 NICU experience required
  • PICU experience required; Cardiac PICU experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • RRT certification required
  • BLS and NRP certifications required
  • PALS certification preferred
  • ACCS certification preferred
  • BSN preferred
  • VA state license required if applicable, pending license accepted if candidate holds another state license and can obtain VA temporary license before start
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Two professional references required
  • Copies of all required certifications required for consideration
  • Skilled in ABG interpretation, intubation assistance, airway management, and ventilator management
  • Experience with medication delivery systems including MDI, aerosol setups, and nebulizers

Additional Information

  • Provide respiratory care to neonatal and pediatric critical care patients
  • Assist with high-risk deliveries and neonatal transports
  • Perform pulmonary hygiene, suctioning, and tracheostomy care/management
  • Work as part of a pediatric critical care team
  • Complete specialty-specific orientation modules during onboarding
  • Maximum RTO of 40 hours per 13-week contract, with all time off disclosed prior to submission
  • No radius rule for this position
  • Previous UVA Health employees must have a 12-month separation and leadership approval before returning as a traveler
  • External travelers may not exceed 365 total assignment days
  • First-time travelers will be considered
