Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT or CRT) with at least 1 year of experience for a 13-week night shift assignment at a Level III Trauma Center.

Details

  • Level III Trauma Center and Level III NICU, Magnet designated, 933-bed hospital in Milwaukee, WI
  • Respiratory Therapy Services unit treating mostly geriatric and adult patients, with some pediatric cases in the ED
  • Typical caseload of 10-15 patients for general floor assignments and 6-8 patients for ICU assignments
  • 12-hour night shift, 1900-0700, 36 hours per week
  • Weekend rotation every other weekend
  • Holiday coverage assigned as needed
  • No on-call requirements
  • Floats to all units within the hospital
  • Uses Epic EMR and Pyxis medication dispensing system
  • Unit-specific equipment includes AVEA vents, Servo U vents, LPU 1200 vents, Parapac vents for MRI, and Hamilton vents for transport

Requirements

  • Active RRT or CRT license required if applicable
  • BLS and ACLS certification required
  • Minimum 1 year of experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
  • Skilled in vent management, CPAP, BiPAP, nebulizer treatments, a-line placement, assisting with intubation, vent weaning, extubation, and ABGs
  • Epic EMR experience preferred
  • Candidate's middle name or initial, date of birth, and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration
  • Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

  • Support provided by other RTs, floor RNs, and unit management/leadership
  • Dayshift staffing includes 13-15 RTs
  • Orientation includes NEO and at least one shift to learn unit flow
  • Facility adheres to a fatigue policy limiting staff to no more than 60 hours per week or 5 consecutive 12-hour shifts
  • Overtime may be available depending on facility needs
  • Up to 7 days of RTO can be approved during the assignment
  • Block scheduling is not accommodated
  • Scrubs must be any solid, professional color with no graphics, logos, or designs
  • Free parking available on site
  • First-time travelers considered upon review
  • Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate with no radius restrictions
  • Former employees of Advocate Health or its subsidiaries must be separated for at least 12 months before becoming eligible for travel assignments
