Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a Level II Trauma Center, requiring RRT certification and 2+ years of experience in a critical care setting.

Details

  • Level II Trauma Center with 411 beds
  • Rotates through 3 Adult ICUs, Cardiac Critical Care Unit, Level II Trauma Center ED, Intermediate Care Unit, and General Medical Floors
  • Not required to train to NICU/PICU/Peds unless specifically posted for that area
  • Treats patients with COPD, CHF, Cystic Fibrosis, ARDS, MVA Trauma/Surgery, Pneumonia, Lung CA, Stroke, ALS, GBS, COVID19, and RSV
  • Uses Servo U, Servo I, Hamilton T1, Trilogy, V60, V30, EV300, and Vero Biotech Nitric Delivery equipment
  • Cerner charting system used
  • 36 hours per week, variable shift schedule (Days 0645-1915 or Nights 1845-0715)
  • Traveler will start on days but may move to nights later in contract; most current needs are on Nights
  • Not required to flip between day and night shifts within the same week
  • Every other weekend rotation required
  • Voluntary call only, 2 hours before and 2 hours after shift start time
  • Floating limited to other trained units only

Requirements

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) required; CRT considered with extensive experience upon manager approval
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in specialty
  • BLS required for Adult-only RT
  • BLS and NRP required for NICU/PICU/Peds RT; PALS preferred
  • Critical care experience including airway and ventilator management, ABG puncture and analysis, non-invasive ventilation, code blue and rapid response, and inhaled medication administration
  • Compact or Maine RT license required for consideration
  • License required if applicable
  • Full SSN required for consideration
  • 2 references within 1 year, including at least one from a Supervisor, Manager, or Director (Charge is acceptable, no peer references)
  • Copies of all certifications required for consideration
  • Driver's license required as a separate document

Additional Information

  • Very critical care focused, protocol-driven RT team
  • Department support includes Lead/Charge, Manager, Assistant Manager, RT Educator, and Medical Director
  • Orientation includes 1 general orientation shift with the RT Educator plus 1 shift per each unit trained to (typically 4-5 shifts total)
  • Holiday coverage as assigned unless RTO is specified in contract
  • RTO requests must go through Manager for approval
  • Scrubs of any color or pattern accepted as long as professional; access to OR scrub machines available
  • Free on-site parking provided
  • First-time travelers will be considered
  • Flu vaccination required for clearance to start, with medical exemptions only accepted subject to client review
  • Candidates must not have previously worked at any Northern Light Health Hospital in a permanent capacity
  • Radius rule applies: permanent address must be 100+ miles South/SW of the facility for standard consideration, with case-by-case approval for those living north
