Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (Children's) with PICU/NICU and 2+ years acute care critical care experience for a 13-week assignment at a Level II trauma center.

Details

  • Level II trauma center with 800 inpatient beds and 80 ER beds serving a 500-mile radius
  • Respiratory Care Services department, home to the region's only children's hospital
  • Treats patients from newborn to geriatric ages, with a focus on critical care, adult general care, and pediatric general care
  • 3x12-hour shifts, varied shift times, rotating days of the week
  • 36 guaranteed hours per week
  • Uses EPIC EMR charting, with training provided during orientation or option to test out
  • May require floating to meet organizational needs up to competency level
  • Call requirements to be discussed during interview

Requirements

  • Active RRT credential
  • Active Nevada State License required prior to submission
  • Must apply for State of Nevada Point of Care Analyst license, Director of Point of Care, or General Supervisor of Point of Care prior to start
  • AHA BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required prior to start
  • Minimum 2 years of acute care respiratory therapy experience required
  • Recent critical care experience required
  • PICU and NICU experience required
  • Completion of at least one prior 13-week travel assignment required within the past year
  • License required if applicable

Additional Information

  • Perform respiratory therapy procedures per protocol and physician orders to improve cardiopulmonary conditions across neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations
  • Responsible for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care
  • Empowered to initiate, refine, transition, discontinue, and restart therapy per protocol based on patient condition
  • Maintain thorough documentation of patient records and department logs
  • Focus on delivering a positive patient experience through clear communication and service recovery practices
  • May be required to work major holidays, with a minimum of two major holidays required during the assignment
  • May be required to pick up one additional shift during the schedule period
  • Schedule may include weekends, holidays, and some call shifts
  • Facility may call off shifts (full or partial) without penalty with 48 hours notice for low census
  • Candidates must live outside a 60-mile radius of the facility to be considered, as local candidates are not accepted
  • RTO requests must be submitted with the initial application
  • A 13-week break is required for returning travelers after completing a prior contract
