Job Summary:
The Respiratory Therapist position in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is located in a healthcare facility and involves providing specialized respiratory care to pediatric and critically ill patients. The role requires administering inhaled specialty gases, performing diagnostic procedures, and managing advanced respiratory therapies, with a focus on pediatric and neonatal care.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Days shift, 12 hours per shift, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: California Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCB) license, Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC), Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), at least 1 year of experience, and experience in Pediatrics and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).
- Preferable to have experience in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
- Additional Information: Must have familiarity with electronic medical record systems, particularly EPIC. The candidate will administer inhaled specialty gases such as heliox and inhaled nitric oxide, perform diagnostic procedures like blood gases, pulmonary function tests, and transcutaneous monitoring, and carry out both basic and advanced respiratory assessments and therapies including mechanical ventilation, bronchial hygiene, aerosol therapy, airway care, and resuscitation procedures. Responsibilities also include documenting age-specific care plans, assessments, patient education, interventions, and responses in the medical record.
