Description

American Traveler is seeking a Certified Respiratory Therapist for a day shift hospital position providing critical and general respiratory care to patients of all ages.

Details

  • Hospital-based respiratory therapy department
  • Day shift, 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week
  • Provides invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation support
  • Performs medicated and non-medicated respiratory therapies
  • Conducts arterial puncture, blood gas analysis, and electrolyte testing
  • Performs oximetry monitoring, pulmonary function testing, and other diagnostic tests
  • Responds to code blue and rapid response emergencies throughout the facility
  • Provides respiratory support in high-risk delivery and neonatal care situations

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Respiratory Care required
  • Certification in Respiratory Therapy through the Kentucky Board of Respiratory Care, or a respiratory license through the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency appropriate for facility location
  • License required if applicable
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential through the National Board for Respiratory Care
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • PALS certification required unless working exclusively in Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT)
  • NRP certification required for candidates working with the neonatal population
  • No prior experience required

Additional Information

  • Assesses, treats, and monitors patients with respiratory diseases and conditions
  • Performs advanced specialty procedures such as endotracheal tube insertion, arterial line placement, and bronchoscopy assistance
  • Provides patient and family education on respiratory therapy, disease processes, and medications
  • Documents patient assessments and therapy in the medical record
  • Participates in departmental quality improvement, safety initiatives, and equipment management
  • Attends departmental meetings, huddles, and in-services
  • Cleans and prepares respiratory equipment including ventilators and gas delivery devices
  • Specially trained therapists may perform pulmonary function testing, neurodiagnostic studies, and cardiac testing such as EKGs and Holter monitoring
