Description
American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist for a 13-week night shift assignment in an acute care hospital setting, requiring 2+ years of experience across adult, pediatric, and NICU populations.
Details
- Acute care hospital setting within the Respiratory Therapy department
- Covers ER and inpatient units across all floors
- Patient population includes NICU Level IIB, MICU, Peds, Adults, and Geriatrics
- Performs PACU treatments and overnight oximetry
- Approximately 25-28 treatments per 8-hour shift
- Night shift schedule, 7p-7a, 12-hour shifts
- Weekend rotation required every other weekend (Friday and Saturday nights)
- May be required to participate in holiday rotation
- Self-scheduling system with travelers filling gaps and remaining flexible
- No block scheduling accommodated
- Float required throughout the hospital and potentially to sister facilities within the Treasure Valley (up to 14 miles away)
- Optional on-call via text list with 30-minute response time
- Uses EPIC EMR
- Equipment includes Drager V500, Hamilton, ReVel, V60s, Vapotherm, and EPOC
Requirements
- RRT required (CRT not accepted)
- Minimum 2 years of respiratory therapy experience required
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
- NRP certification required for NICU coverage
- License required if applicable
- Must be comfortable performing ABGs (radial or brachial)
- Must be able to manage all respiratory equipment
- Assists with intubation only, does not perform independently
- Must be comfortable floating between specialties including ICU, MICU, MS-Tele, and ER
- Prefer experience in Level II NICU and comfort attending deliveries and initiating CPAP
- Prefer pediatric ER experience with stabilization and transfer
- Driver's license required for consideration
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
Additional Information
- Provide respiratory treatments and support across NICU, MICU, Peds, Adult, and Geriatric populations
- Work alongside in-house intensivists, hospitalists, anesthesia, and overnight eICU support
- Manager and charge supervisor available each shift for support and resource assistance
- Unit orientation consists of 1-2 shifts with a preceptor covering NICU/General and ICU
- Scrub color is flexible but must maintain a clean, professional appearance
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Permanent employees must wait one year before applying for a travel assignment
- Facility maintains a 50-mile radius rule and does not accept local candidates
- Requests for time off should be submitted in advance
