Description
American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with 2+ years of experience for a night shift position requiring float coverage across NICU, adult critical care, and emergency department settings at a community-based hospital.
Details
- Community-based hospital setting with a full-service Emergency Department
- 13-week assignment on night shift, 3x12 hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:30
- Required to float between multiple units including Emergency Department, Adult ICU, Adult Med Surg, Adult Progressive Care Unit, Labor & Delivery, and NICU
- Will assist with high risk deliveries and NICU II care approximately 30-40% of the assignment
- May assist with pediatric care as needed in the Emergency Department
- Every other weekend required (Saturday and Sunday)
- Required to work 2 of 3 major holidays as determined by leadership
- Cerner charting system used
- 100% floating required, including to affiliate hospitals nearby
Requirements
- Current RRT certification
- BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of experience required
- Labor and delivery experience preferred as best fit for this role
- Experience with CPAP, Nasal CPAP, and BiPAP
- Ventilator management experience including weaning from mechanical ventilation
- Airway management skills including intubation assist, extubation, and tracheostomy care
- Experience with oxygen therapy and high flow nasal cannula (HFNC)
- Cerner charting experience preferred
- License required if applicable
- Graduation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
- 2 supervisor references required
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide respiratory therapy services across adult critical care, emergency department, NICU, and pediatric critical care settings
- Assist with high risk deliveries as part of NICU coverage
- Participate in medication administration including nebulizer treatments and oxygen therapy
- First-time travelers are accepted for this position
- Indiana residents are considered local candidates; local candidate acceptance rules vary by unit type
- Up to 5 days of non-holiday RTO can be auto-approved; additional time off requires facility approval
- Candidates must work 2 of 3 major holidays
- Former IU Health perm or PRN employees must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler
- Current or past IU Health travelers with 12 months of accrued travel employment must take a designated break to reset eligibility
