Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Respiratory Step-Down Unit in a long term acute care setting, requiring 1-2 years of experience and a CT or compact RN license.

Details

  • Long term acute care hospital setting on the Respiratory Step-Down Unit
  • 38-bed unit caring for respiratory-focused, vent-dependent patients
  • Staffing ratios of 1:9 for day/evening shifts and 1:12 for nights
  • 12-hour day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, 36 hours per week
  • Every other weekend required
  • May float to like units including Respiratory Care Unit, MRU/CMU, TRU, and Hartford Satellite Campus
  • Travelers are prioritized for floating assignments
  • Float RNs will not be assigned to Pediatrics unless pedi-specific experience is held

Requirements

  • Active RN license (CT or Compact) required
  • 1-2 years of nursing experience required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Experience with respiratory/vented patients strongly preferred
  • Skilled in IV starts, drips, blood administration, EKGs, and medication titrations
  • Experience with glucose monitoring, wound vac changes, and complex and simple wound dressings
  • Competent in trach care, suctioning, straight cath, and foley care
  • Experience with port access, central line dressing, and wound measurements

Additional Information

  • RNs do not manage ventilators, as this is handled by respiratory therapists
  • Local candidates are accepted at a reduced rate
