Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Respiratory Care Unit in a long-term acute care setting, requiring a CT or compact RN license and 1-2 years of relevant experience.

Details

• Long-term acute care hospital setting on a Respiratory Care Unit (36 beds)
• Respiratory-focused, vent-dependent patient population in a medical (not traditional Med/Surg) environment
• Patient ratios of 1:9 (day/evening) and 1:12 (night)
• 12-hour night shift schedule, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend required
• Float required to like chronic care units including RCU2, Respiratory Step-Down Unit (38 beds, ratios 1:9 day/evening, 1:12 night), and TRU (TBI/medically complex chronic care, ratios 1:7-10 day/evening, 1:12 night), with travelers floated first
• May split a 12-hour shift between two units (e.g., 4 hours on one, 8 hours on another)
• RTs manage ventilators; nurses do not perform vent management

Requirements

• Active CT or compact RN license required
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
• 1-2 years of RN experience required
• Experience with respiratory or ventilated patients strongly preferred
• Prior travel nursing experience preferred
• Willing to obtain flu vaccination or provide medical declination (personal or religious declinations not accepted)

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include IV starts, drip administration, blood administration, EKGs, medication titrations, glucose monitoring, wound vac changes, and complex/simple wound dressings
• Additional duties include trach care, suctioning, straight catheterization, foley care, port access, central line dressing, and wound measurements
