Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Inpatient Rehab RN for a night shift position requiring BSN and at least 1 year of nursing experience.

Details

  • Inpatient Acute Rehabilitation Unit (ARU) caring for patients discharged from acute care requiring 1+ weeks of PT/OT/speech therapy
  • Non-telemetry unit with occasional IVs and lab draws
  • Patient population includes post-surgical, post-stroke, CHF, orthopedic, and general med-surg cases requiring prolonged therapy
  • Patient ratio of 1:5 on days and 1:5-6 on nights
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts, 1900-0730
  • Every 3rd weekend required with holiday block coverage
  • May float to like units within the hospital as needed
  • Team-based care model working closely with physical therapy and care management teams
  • EPIC charting system used, experience preferred

Requirements

  • Active RN license in Missouri or Compact state required, must be in hand prior to start (pending license accepted at submission)
  • BLS and NIHSS certifications required, ACLS preferred
  • BSN required
  • Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required, 2 years preferred for first-time travelers
  • Must pass Basic EKG exam with 80% or higher (2 attempts allowed)
  • Must pass telemetry test prior to starting
  • Previous charge nurse experience preferred
  • Previous travel experience preferred

  • Responsible for own IV insertions and lab draws during shifts
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and collaborative team player thrives in this fast-paced environment
  • Must complete all organizational mandatory education upon starting
  • Schedule created 6 weeks in advance, which may limit self-scheduling flexibility for incoming travelers
  • Weekend and holiday time off requests must be pre-approved before start
  • No smoking or leaving premises during shift
  • Consistent attendance required
  • Unit currently expanding with 18 additional beds, creating multiple staffing opportunities
  • Extension and permanent conversion opportunities possible for strong candidates
  • First-time travelers considered with at least 2 years of experience
  • Local candidates accepted at a reduced rate
  • Traveler's permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility for full travel rate eligibility
  • Previous employees must be separated from the facility for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
