Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Inpatient Rehab RN with at least 2 years of recent specialty experience for a night shift position requiring both Kansas and Missouri (or compact) licensure and Epic proficiency.

Details

  • Inpatient Rehabilitation unit in an acute care hospital setting
  • Patient population includes pulmonary, cardiac, neuro/CVA, orthopedic recovery, debility, and amputation cases
  • Average daily census of 10 patients with a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio across all shifts
  • 12-bed unit
  • Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 18:45–07:15
  • 8 weekend shifts required per 6-week scheduling period, on a combination of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
  • Primary unit is Inpatient Rehab, with floating required to other med-surg and inpatient units including the ED for inpatient holds
  • Charting via Epic (required)
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Navy scrubs required

Requirements

  • Active RN license — both Kansas and Missouri licenses, or a compact license, must be in hand at time of consideration
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of recent inpatient rehab experience required, with at least 1 full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months and no employment gap greater than 90 days in the past year
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Proficiency in a broad range of skills including IV therapy, blood product administration, PICC/central line care, phlebotomy, EKG performance, and respiratory treatments (nebulizers, CPAP/BiPAP)
  • Experience with neurological conditions including CVA, TBI, spinal cord injury, Parkinson's disease, seizure disorders, and stroke scale assessment
  • Experience with orthopedic care including total joint replacement, assistive devices, mobilization techniques, and prosthesis application
  • Experience with GI tube management including NG tubes, PEG tubes, and swallowing precautions
  • Experience with cardiac care including angina, hypertension, post-MI, and anticoagulation/antiseizure/diuretic medication management
  • Ability to manage BiPAP/CPAP devices with preprogrammed settings for chronic conditions
  • 2 professional references required: one supervisor-level or above and one charge RN, both from within the past year
  • SSN required for consideration
  • Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible

  • Travel partners are not accepted for this position
  • RTO is capped at 7 days for the duration of the contract; all RTO and scheduling requests must be submitted at the time of consideration and cannot be added afterward
  • Candidates who have previously worked at a BJC or Saint Luke's facility as a permanent employee must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • Returning travelers must have an 18-month tenure break with at least a 3-month break in service before being considered
  • Pre-compliance modules (approximately 10–15 hours) are required and must be completed prior to the start date; Epic training should be completed first, with a test-out option available
  • A drug screen is required; a diluted or unresolved positive result will result in cancellation, with a 6-month waiting period before reapplication
  • Charge RN experience is preferred
