Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Inpatient Rehab RN with at least 2 years of recent specialty experience, Epic proficiency, and both Kansas and Missouri (or compact) RN licenses in hand.

Details

  • Acute inpatient rehabilitation unit within a community hospital setting
  • Patient population includes pulmonary, cardiac, neuro/CVA, orthopedic recovery, debility, and amputation cases
  • Patient ratio of 1:6 on all shifts
  • 12-bed unit with an average daily census of 10
  • Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM)
  • 8 weekend shifts required per 6-week scheduling period, which may fall on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday
  • No on-call requirements
  • Primary unit is Inpatient Rehab, with floating required to other Med/Surg/Intermediate (MSI) units, including the ED for inpatient holds, based on facility need
  • Charting is performed in Epic (required)
  • 13-week contract

Requirements

  • Active MO RN license or compact RN license currently in hand; both Kansas and Missouri licenses (or a compact license) must be in hand at time of consideration, as floating between state lines may be required
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent inpatient rehab specialty experience required, including at least 1 full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months with no employment gap greater than 90 days
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Proficiency in a broad range of clinical skills including: IV therapy, blood and blood product administration, PICC/central line care, venous blood draws, NG/PEG tube management, Foley catheter removal, wound care, stroke scale assessment, anticoagulation/antiseizure/diuretic medication management, and orthopedic skills (assistive devices, prosthesis application, total joint replacement care)
  • Ability to perform EKGs, phlebotomy, and respiratory treatments as ordered
  • Ability to manage BiPAP/CPAP devices with preprogrammed settings for chronic conditions
  • 2 professional references required: at least one must be supervisor level or above, the second may be a charge RN; both must be from supervisors who have worked with the candidate within the past year

  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Candidates residing within a 50-mile radius of the facility are considered local and are not eligible for this position
  • RTO is capped at 7 days; all RTO and scheduling requests must be finalized prior to consideration and no additional requests will be accepted after that point
  • Previous employees of BJC or Saint Luke's health systems must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler; candidates who have worked at the facility within the past 18 months must have a 3-month break in service
  • Candidates who have previously held a contract with BJC must have fulfilled that contract in full to be eligible; mid-contract cancellations to accept another BJC assignment are not permitted
  • Orientation includes pre-start Epic training modules; candidates will have the option to complete an Epic test-out or the standard Epic module
  • Infusion pump and glucometer training must be completed prior to the first day of orientation
  • Navy scrubs are required
  • Travel partners are not accepted for this position
  • Charge nurse experience is preferred
