Key Responsibilities of the Respiratory Therapist- Confirm physician orders, assess for appropriateness, and ensure quality patient care
- Notify physician, nurse, and/or other hospital staff of any unusual reactions observed
- Evaluate and monitor patient for tolerance and response to therapy and treatment
- Explain treatment procedures to patients and address any concerns or questions
- Perform respiratory/pulmonary procedures per department policy or protocol
- Respond to emergencies and perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation
- Maintain proficiency in Respiratory Care skills through continued education
Requirements of the Respiratory Therapist- Graduate of an A.M.A. or CoARC approved program for Respiratory Therapists
- Valid Ohio license (RCP) to practice Respiratory Care
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) & obtain RRT within 120 days
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Ability to effectively interact with diverse patient populations
- 2+ years of recent experience in an acute care setting
