This role involves monitoring and evaluating patient status in accordance with established standards and policies. Candidates may float between adult and pediatric populations and possibly other units. Patient population may include COVID-19 patients. Job Responsibilities: Assesses and delivers care and interventions to patients while considering age, cultural, and psychosocial factors. Performs computer entry, verifies physician orders, and documents pertinent clinical information. Provides accurate documentation in the medical record according to established policy. Delivers care effectively to patients in critical care areas. Administers mechanical ventilation, both invasive and non-invasive, while monitoring patient parameters. Attends to ventilator maintenance and setting changes, monitoring patient response to these changes. Communicates effectively with the healthcare team and demonstrates professional judgment in response to changing situations. Delegates and supervises tasks to appropriate staff members as indicated. Acknowledges and demonstrates respect for patients' rights. Establishes effective relationships with patients, families, and medical staff using positive customer service skills. Maintains communication updates with the department consistently. Supports departmental goals by attending in-services and completing variance reports. Organizes, prioritizes, and performs skills appropriate for the patient population. Anticipates patient and departmental needs. Responds to code blues, RIT/CRIT calls, and transports in a timely manner. Participates in mentoring new personnel. Assists in monitoring quality and appropriateness of patient care. Participates actively in projects and processes designed to improve patient outcomes. Exercises independent judgment in planning operations and making minor decisions in a technical field. Works directly with patients and customers and collaborates with healthcare professionals.
