Therapeutics to respiratory care must be applied, including medical gas therapy, humidity therapy, aerosol therapy, artificial airway insertion, management and care, airway clearance, and invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation.

The schedule consists of Sunday through Tuesday one week and Sunday through Wednesday the following week, rotating every other week. Some call and weekends are included. Holidays are also included. Essential duties include performing and collecting diagnostic information. This includes pulmonary function testing, pad net, sleep studies, noninvasive and invasive diagnostic procedures, and blood gas analysis. Accurate assessment of each patient through physical examination and diagnostic data interpretation is required. Therapeutics to respiratory care must be applied, including medical gas therapy, humidity therapy, aerosol therapy, artificial airway insertion, management and care, airway clearance, and invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation. Assessing reactions and results of therapeutic interventions in a timely manner is essential. Participation in discharge planning and case management is required. Engagement in public education activities focused on the promotion of cardiopulmonary wellness is necessary. Attendance at all mandatory safety in-services, department meetings, and selected in-services by management is expected.
