Experience in ER and ICU settings is required.
Inpatient adult experience is mandatory.
Pediatric experience is preferred but willing to train.
Description:
The department typically staffs multiple respiratory therapists during day and night shifts.
Therapists are expected to manage 40-70 treatments per day on average.
The patient population primarily consists of adults, with some exposure to pediatrics and neonates in specialized units.
Respiratory therapists will cover all inpatient areas, including the Emergency Department.
Job duties include administering breathing treatments, managing ventilators, and performing ABGs and EKGs.
Therapists may assist in intubation but will not be required to independently intubate.
They will typically not be the only respiratory therapist in-house during shifts.
Weekend and holiday work is required.
Professional appearance and appropriate attire are expected.
Core responsibilities also include performing inpatient and outpatient EKGs and bronchoscopy procedures.
Therapists will be trained on departmental specifics and undergo skill assessments upon starting.
The role includes collaboration within an open ICU, with supervision available from lead therapists.
