Description:
Under the direction of department management, the Respiratory Therapist demonstrates an advanced level of knowledge in respiratory care.
The Respiratory Therapist II administers competent care of patients through airway management and mechanical ventilator management.
They provide oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, and respiratory procedures designed to assess, prevent, stabilize, or remedy respiratory dysfunction.
They administer standard respiratory care, including aerosol medication delivery and oxygen therapy.
The role involves performing pulmonary function testing as needed.
When working with transport services, they transport pediatric and neonatal patients per established protocols.
Responsibilities may include performing advanced practice procedures as necessary.
When working with ECMO, they may manage extracorporeal circulation for cardiac and respiratory support.
The position may require being on-call during nights, weekends, and holidays.
They must demonstrate skills in ventilator care, including setup and monitoring.
Maintaining and improving job knowledge and skills is essential.
They are expected to function independently with minimal supervision.
This role serves as a resource to other staff based on experience level.
