Position Summary

The Respiratory Therapist (RRT) in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) provides specialized respiratory care to critically ill neonates. This role involves managing ventilators and delivering respiratory treatments in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.

Core Responsibilities

  • Perform respiratory care treatments and ventilator management, including invasive and noninvasive ventilation.
  • Provide attentive and compassionate care to neonatal patients and their families.
  • Operate and maintain respiratory equipment such as ventilators and other advanced respiratory devices.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Adhere to unit policies and guidelines to maintain high standards of care.

Qualifications

Specific Educational/Vocational Requirements

  • Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential.
  • Active NBRC certification.
  • Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and PALS.

Job Skills

  • Minimum of 6 months current RRT experience, preferably in critical care or NICU settings.
  • Strong knowledge of respiratory care treatments and ventilator management.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic critical care environment.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
