Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) certification required Must-Have: College diploma required. Three years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist required. Description: The Respiratory Care Practitioner II possesses sufficient training and experience to perform independent professional respiratory care diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. This role includes clinical evaluation of care, the establishment of therapeutic objectives, and the review of care. The practitioner provides respiratory therapy modalities per protocol or as ordered by physicians. Responsibilities include demonstrating proficiency in the use and operation of respiratory equipment. Provision of respiratory treatment to assigned age-specific patient populations is expected, including infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. Participation in related continuing education is required. Care must be provided to patients according to professional standards and established procedures, utilizing good judgment and personal initiative. Duties include ventilator management, nebulized medication therapy, oxygen therapy, specialty gas administration, chest physiotherapy, aerosol therapy, mist tent therapy, quality assurance, and improvement. The practitioner performs diagnostic procedures such as 12-lead ECGs, simple pulmonary function testing, and pulse oximetry. Assistance to physicians during cardiac stress testing is also a responsibility. Arterial and capillary punctures will be performed to determine oxygenation, acid-base balance, and the efficiency of ventilation and metabolism. Ensuring adequate ventilation and oxygenation during cardiopulmonary resuscitation is essential. Close collaboration with other members of the healthcare team is expected. Participation in continuing education and Rapid Response Team activities is required. Treatment and patient responses must be recorded in respiratory care records and patient charts. Assessment of patients, their needs, and their ability to tolerate treatment is necessary, with reassessment based on their response to treatment. The successful candidate is expected to be detail-oriented, compassionate, an exceptional communicator, a collaborative team player, and able to work independently.
