Description

Job Title: Respiratory Therapist - NICU Profession: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics Specialty: RRT-NICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night 3x12 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years of experience as an RRT in Adult Critical Care and NICU; 1 prior travel assignment completed License: MD State licensure required Certifications: BLS, CRT, ACLS preferred Must-Have: - ED experience preferred - Familiarity with specialized ventilators (e.g., Draeger V500, Servo U) - Comfortable drawing and analyzing ABGs Description: The role involves performing airway management and suctioning techniques. Responsibilities include endotracheal tube placement, extubation, and oral/nasal airway suctioning. The candidate will conduct pulmonary hygiene and sputum specimen collection. Tracheostomy suctioning will be part of the responsibilities as well. Interpretation of arterial blood gases is required. The candidate will manage medications such as Albuterol, Atrovent, and various inhaled steroids. Skills in using high flow nasal cannula and BiPAP/CPAP are necessary. The role may involve assisting in high-risk deliveries and conducting umbilical blood gas analysis. The candidate must be able to float between adult and neonatal patient populations. Attention to troubleshooting high-pressure alarms is also essential. Candidates should possess strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to ensure effective patient care. The environment is a teaching hospital with a focus on interdisciplinary support. Candidates should be prepared for holiday coverage and must work every other weekend.
