Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with 2+ years of Adult Critical Care and NICU experience for a night shift position at a teaching hospital.

Details

  • Work in a Respiratory/Neuro Diagnostics department at a short-term acute care teaching hospital and COTH member facility
  • Float between Adult Critical Care and NICU units
  • Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts (18:30-7:00)
  • Every other weekend required
  • No on-call requirement
  • Holiday coverage required for Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day
  • Uses Draeger V500, Draeger VN500, and Servo U ventilators
  • Charting completed in Cerner

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as an RRT in Adult Critical Care and NICU within the last 7 years
  • Completion of at least 1 prior travel assignment required
  • BLS and CRT certifications required
  • MD state license or compact license required if applicable
  • ACLS, NRP, and PALS certifications preferred
  • RRT certification preferred
  • Emergency Department experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
  • Trauma Level I and Level II experience preferred
  • Cerner charting experience required
  • Proficient in ABG interpretation and analysis
  • Skilled in airway management including endotracheal/tracheostomy suctioning, extubation, and nasal/oral airway placement
  • Experienced in ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, and weaning from mechanical ventilation
  • Experienced in high-risk delivery assistance and umbilical blood gas collection
  • Knowledge of medication delivery including aerosol setups, nebulizers, and MDIs
  • Bronchoscopy, inhaled Flolan, Ketamine, Mucomyst, Nitric Oxide (INo), and Theophylline experience preferred

Additional Information

  • Provide respiratory care services across adult critical care and NICU patient populations
  • Perform airway management, suctioning, extubation, and tracheostomy care as part of daily responsibilities
  • Administer a range of inhaled medications and manage nebulizer and oxygen therapy equipment
  • Troubleshoot ventilator alarms and manage weaning protocols for mechanically ventilated patients
  • Assist with high-risk deliveries and umbilical blood gas sampling in the NICU setting
  • Flu vaccine required for all employees at this facility
  • Scrubs not provided; ceil blue scrub color required
  • First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
  • Candidates must live within 60 miles of the facility to be considered for the local rate
  • Returning MedStar employees must have been separated from previous employment for at least one year before returning as a traveler
  • RTO requests must be submitted with the initial application and are limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract
  • No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment
