Job Summary
Respiratory Therapist - Pediatric (Respiratory Therapist Registered) position located at a childrens hospital with 247 licensed beds, a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center, Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Teaching Hospital, Chest Pain Center, and Certified Stroke Center. The role involves providing respiratory care exclusively for pediatric patients, including neonates and children, within a specialized hospital setting. The position requires working night shifts as part of a rotating schedule.
Job Details
- Location: Night shift, with scheduled hours from 06:45 PM to 07:15 AM, every 6 weeks cycle, totaling 36 hours per week.
- Schedule: Night shifts with weekend rotation every other week. Travelers will work approximately 75% of holidays.
- Required Qualifications: Two years of pediatric respiratory therapy experience within the past five years, including ventilator experience with IPPV/NIPPV technology. Must hold current licensure and certifications, including BLS, PALS, ACLS, and NRP.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience in emergency department (ED) or intensive care unit (ICU) level care, and familiarity with electronic medical records system EPIC (must test out during onboarding).
- Support within the Department: Respiratory leadership available to support clinical practice and onboarding.
- Technology/Equipment: Ventilators (IPPV/NIPPV) and other pediatric respiratory equipment. Training on department-specific equipment will be discussed during the interview.
- Orientation: A 3-day onboarding period including computer training, equipment familiarization, and facility orientation. Additional unit orientation provided for those with multiple intensive care experience.
- Floating: Float rotation is not required due to specialized department needs.
- Additional Information: Candidates with experience across multiple intensive care units will have dedicated days in each unit. The onboarding includes two days of computer and equipment training, plus facility orientation.
