Job Details

  • Position Description: Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care, delivering intensive respiratory therapy and patient transport into and out of the facility as medically prescribed, within the scope of professional license and with minimal supervision. Evaluates patients and recommends treatment plans, explaining procedures, tests, and equipment to patients, and providing education upon discharge.
  • Performs physician-prescribed treatments of a routine nature, operating various ventilatory equipment, oxygen, aerosol devices, and nebulizers to administer medications, humidification, ventilation, and oxygenation.
  • Conducts chest physiotherapy and performs suctioning via various methods, including oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal.
  • Monitors patients with oximetry and capnography, reviews chest x-rays, and performs 12-Lead EKG and basic arrhythmia recognition.
  • Completes pulmonary function studies (e.g., NIF, VC) and assists with procedures like bronchoscopy, Perc Trachs, or chest tube placements.
  • Manages chest drainage devices such as PleurX catheters, performs tracheostomy care, including insertion and removal of tubes, and conducts arterial punctures.
  • Follows policies for laboratory testing, specimen handling, and documentation.
  • Performs cardiopulmonary resuscitation according to BLS and ACLS guidelines.
  • Manages ventilatory equipment, including setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Records treatment details and patient responses, communicates with attending physicians, and ensures accurate respiratory therapy billing.
  • Maintains compliance with all relevant policies and performs other duties as assigned.
  • Required Qualifications: Certification in respiratory therapy, valid professional license, ability to operate ventilatory and monitoring equipment, and experience in pediatric respiratory care.
  • Schedule: Nights, 12 hours per shift, minimum 36 hours per week.
  • Additional Information: The candidate should be prepared to perform routine and emergent procedures, operate specialized respiratory care equipment, and communicate effectively with the healthcare team.
