Job Summary
Respiratory Therapist Registered (RT PEDS) for a healthcare organization in a critical care setting. This full-time position involves providing pulmonary care to adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients in an intensive care environment, working primarily night shifts. The role requires flexibility to float between facilities and perform various technical and diagnostic respiratory procedures under minimal supervision.
Job Details
- Location: The position requires float involvement between two facilities, with shifts at 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM or 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, depending on the assigned location.
- Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Licensure as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license in the state of employment, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification via American Heart Association (AHA), and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification via AHA. Must have at least one year of adult ICU experience.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with critical care procedures, including airway management, ventilator management, blood gas analysis, and respiratory diagnostics.
- Responsibilities:
- Perform patient assessments and develop respiratory care plans.
- Manage ventilator setups and operation, airway management, and delivery of aerosolized drugs.
- Conduct diagnostic procedures including blood gas collection, EKG analysis, and pulmonary function testing.
- Maintain accurate documentation, assist with CAP and JC surveys, and support airway and respiratory support device management.
- Potentially serve as a Shift Leader or Team Leader and perform advanced practice skills including nocturnal SpO2 evaluation, polysomnography, bronchoscopy assistance, and hemodynamic monitoring.
- Additional Information: The position requires a flexible schedule with weekend and holiday coverage, minimal supervision, and adherence to dress code (gray scrubs). The role involves direct patient care in high-acuity settings with a focus on adult, pediatric, and neonatal pulmonary management.
