    Job Summary

    Are you an experienced Travel RN looking for your next contract? We are seeking a flexible, highly skilled Travel Registered Nurse (RN) with combined Med Surg and Emergency Room (ER) experience to join our team in Cozad, NE.

    In this dual-role capacity, you will deliver comprehensive inpatient care on general medical-surgical units while staying ready to assist in emergency response. This position is ideal for nurses with Critical Access Hospital experience who excel in fast-paced, dynamic clinical environments.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Perform complete patient assessments, continuously monitoring vital signs, clinical laboratory results, and responses to treatment plans.

    • Administer medications, injections, IV therapies, and perform basic procedures (wound care, dressing changes, specimen collection).

    • Manage patient care across both Med Surg units and the ER, rapidly prioritizing care based on patient acuity and emergent needs.

    • Collaborate seamlessly with physicians, mid-level providers, ancillary teams, and case managers to develop care plans and ensure smooth discharge transitions.

    • Accurately document all treatments, interventions, and assessments using the TruBridge EHR system.

    • Provide clear, empathetic education to patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment steps, and post-discharge care.

    Qualifications & Requirements

    Education:

    • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited program.

    Licensure:

    • Current, active, and unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Nebraska (or compact/NLC state license).

    Certifications:

    • Required: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC).

    • Highly Preferred: Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS).

    Experience & Skills:

    • Required: Proven experience in both Med/Surg and ER acute care settings.

    • Preferred: Critical Access Hospital experience and familiarity with telemetry or post-operative care.

    • Systems: Experience with or adaptability to TruBridge EHR charting.

    • Strong physical assessment, critical thinking, and acute inpatient care skills with the ability to balance multiple competing priorities efficiently.

    Work Environment

    • Shift: Day Shift (Typically 12-hour shifts).

    • Setting: Community healthcare facility / Critical Access Hospital setting offering manageable ratios that balance throughput with patient safety.
