Responsibilities
- Deliver perioperative nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures in the OR/ASU setting
- Prepare the sterile field, assist the surgical team, and maintain patient safety throughout procedures
- Monitor patient status intraoperatively, respond to changes, and document perioperative observations
- Administer medications and manage equipment as directed by the surgical team
- Assist with patient positioning, lifting safety, and transfers as required
- Communicate clearly with team members, participate in handoffs, and contribute to postoperative care planning
Requirements
- Current New York State registered nurse license
- Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing
- BLS required; ACLS preferred
- On-call required with a 30-minute response time
- Strong leadership, prioritization, and interpersonal skills
- Experience or ability to function effectively in high-stress surgical environments
- Knowledge of typical clinical equipment and instrumentation used in OR/ASU settings
- Ability to recognize safety issues for self and others and to apply safe patient handling practices, including use of lifts
