Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Neuro Unit | Marion, IL
Join a dedicated Neuro nursing team as a Travel Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Registered Nurse in Marion, Illinois. This 13-week travel nursing assignment offers the opportunity to care for neuro and neuro-surgical patients in a 22-bed unit while building your clinical expertise in a collaborative hospital setting. Marion is a welcoming Southern Illinois community with convenient access to local dining, shopping, regional amenities, and outdoor recreation.
Travel Nursing Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,040–$2,150
- Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry – Neuro
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: October 5, 2026
- Shift: 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM–7:30 AM
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 or 48 hours per week, subject to orientation and holiday scheduling policies
- Weekend and Holiday Rotation: Every other weekend and every other holiday
- Unit: 22-bed Neuro unit with an approximate 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio; charge nurses maintain patient assignments
- Float Expectation: May float to the medical unit and care for medical overflow patients
- Charting: Recent EPIC experience required
- Local Candidate Restriction: Applicants must reside outside the applicable 40-mile local radius
Medical-Surgical/Telemetry RN Requirements
- Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license
- At least two years of strong Medical-Surgical/Telemetry nursing experience
- Previous Neuro nursing experience required
- At least one completed travel nursing assignment
- Current AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Recent EPIC charting experience
- Associate degree or nursing certificate required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
- Strong assessment, clinical judgment, critical-thinking, communication, and adaptability skills
Neuro Telemetry Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide safe, comprehensive nursing care to neuro, neuro-surgical, and general medical patients, including those with CVAs and patients recovering from elective back or neck surgery or cerebral angiograms
- Perform focused and comprehensive neurological assessments, NIHSS evaluations, and dysphagia screenings
- Monitor cardiac rhythms and provide basic telemetry interpretation
- Manage patient assessments, medication administration, strict intake and output, urinary catheter care, and straight catheterization
- Initiate and titrate heparin infusions according to orders and facility protocols
- Administer blood and blood products and perform venipuncture and blood cultures
- Insert and manage NG tubes, indwelling drains, and other related equipment
- Monitor stable infusions, including Protonix and Lasix, while recognizing changes in patient condition
- Float to the medical unit as needed and safely care for medical overflow patients
- Collaborate with providers and the interdisciplinary team to promote positive patient outcomes
- Document care accurately in EPIC and maintain a professional, resilient, and patient-centered approach
