Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring 2+ years of recent MS/Tele hospital experience and Epic proficiency.

Details

  • Med/Surg Telemetry unit in an acute care hospital
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (18:30-7:00)
  • Patient ratios of 1:5, with possible increases to 1:6-7
  • Cardiac patient population including CHF, stroke, DKA, altered mental status, ortho, surgical, and infection cases
  • Weekend requirement of 6 shifts per 6-week period
  • Floating required within scope to meet facility needs
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • No block scheduling accommodations available
  • Epic EMR used for charting

Requirements

  • Active OK or Compact RN license required
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg experience in a hospital setting required within the past year
  • PCU experience will not be accepted in lieu of direct MS experience
  • Epic charting experience required within the past year
  • Cardiac care self-rating of 3 or above required
  • Basic dysrhythmia training preferred with self-rating of 3 or above
  • Prior travel nursing experience required, though first-time travelers with 4+ years of MS/Tele experience will be considered
  • Skills in IV therapy, blood product administration, and telemetry monitoring required
  • Experience with cardiac drip management, dysrhythmia interpretation, and rapid response team utilization required

Additional Information

  • Level 3 Trauma Center with 171 staffed beds
  • Care for patients with mental health diagnoses may be required across units
  • Scrub color varies by unit
  • Free parking available
  • Facility maintains a zero-fault attendance policy where missed shifts count as unexcused regardless of reason, with warnings after 2 misses and possible cancellation after 3+
  • Compliance lab visit required within 48-72 hours of signing
  • Pre-start completion of required training modules necessary
  • Maximum of 5 days RTO allowed within a 13-week assignment, with no additional time off after submittal
  • No RTO permitted on the day before, day of, or day after major holidays
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travelers
  • Previous employment at this facility as a traveler or permanent employee is not permitted
