Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele unit position requiring a NC or compact RN license and a minimum of 2 years of experience.

Details

• Work in a Med/Surg unit that is telemetry-capable, with a primarily Med/Surg patient population
• Care for a diverse patient population including observation patients, respiratory conditions, general medical-surgical diagnoses, palliative/end-of-life/hospice patients, psychiatric observation, and diabetes management
• Also treat surgical patients and provide surgical observation care
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Every other weekend (EOW) required
• Holiday coverage required as needed
• Floating required across all facility campuses as needed
• Uses Epic EMR system

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required, must be in hand at time of consideration
• BLS certification required; ACLS and NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Previous Charge RN experience preferred
• LTAC experience preferred
• Must pass a Pass/Fail EKG exam during onboarding compliance (2 attempts allowed)
• Skills in respiratory care (BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, nasal cannula, oral suctioning) preferred
• Skills in IV therapy, PICC line management, and peripheral line care preferred
• Skills in GI care including colostomy/ileostomy and feeding tube management preferred
• Cardiac monitoring skills including dysrhythmia interpretation and management required
• Wound care/wound vac experience preferred
• Renal skills including pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care preferred
• Surgical drain management skills preferred
• Current driver's license required to verify address

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care across a variety of medical-surgical and telemetry conditions
• Utilize cardiac monitoring equipment and respond to dysrhythmias, including use of Rapid Response/Code teams
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply, though prior travel experience is a plus
• RTO must be submitted at the time of application; no post-submission RTO requests accepted
• Candidates must be flexible with scheduling due to a zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
• Compliance requirements, including third-party education verification, must be completed by 12 Noon EST the Wednesday prior to the start date
