Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care for adult patients on medical-surgical telemetry floors, including monitoring vitals and telemetry, administering medications, and responding to changes in patient condition.
- Perform accurate documentation in the electronic record, communicate with the interdisciplinary team, and update care plans as needed.
- Float to like units and overflow areas as assigned, adapting to unit-specific protocols and workflows.
- Complete onboarding telemetry competency requirements and pass ECG/telemetry and medications tests (one attempt only) with testing conducted prior to assignment.
- Collaborate with the charge nurse and primary team to ensure safe patient handoffs, timely interventions, and patient/family education as appropriate.
Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license in Massachusetts
- BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association)
- Minimum 2 years of Med Surg Telemetry experience
- Ability to float to other Med Surg Telemetry floors and overflow areas
- Documented professional development activities
- Pass Telemetry competency exam and onboarding tests (85% passing score; no remediation or retakes; results reviewed within 48 hours of offer)
- Orientation is biweekly; nurse manager will conduct interviews and offers
