Responsibilities
- Deliver direct bedside nursing care for adult and geriatricMed-Surg patients, including those with pulmonary conditions, infectious diseases, oncology needs, post-operative status, and end-of-life care
- Monitor patients via remote central telemetry; respond to changes in patient condition and participate in rapid response and code events
- Administer medications, manage peripheral IV lines, oxygen therapy, and non-invasive airway support; implement isolation precautions and PPE protocols
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (PT, Respiratory, Phlebotomy, Radiology, Social Work, Pharmacy, Transport, Unit Secretary) to coordinate care and patient flow
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in EPIC; ensure charting adheres to policy and privacy standards
- Support patient and family needs, including discharge planning and end-of-life care discussions as appropriate
- Demonstrate competency in units’ common diagnoses and maintain high standards of patient safety during night shifts and weekend coverage
Requirements
- NY State RN license active at submission; submit recent Nursys and certifications prior to start
- Minimum 2 years of acute hospital Med-Surg nursing experience
- Prior travel nursing experience required; references provided on request
- BLS required; ACLS preferred
- EPIC charting experience required; EKG competency testing required (Relias) with onsite passing criteria
- Ability to work in a remote telemetry environment and float within scope of practice; weekend coverage required
- Healthstream modules (excluding specified exceptions) must be completed by the deadline prior to start (approx. 12–15 hours total)

- Local hiring restriction applies: candidates with permanent addresses within 50 miles of Saratoga Springs (certain counties listed) are not eligible
- License submission: NY RN license required at submission; submit recent Nursys and certifications prior to start
- Vaccines: COVID-19 vaccine not required; flu vaccine required for the flu season starting 12/5; exemptions must be submitted 2 weeks prior for approval
- EKG testing: travelers must complete Relias EKG exam within 72 hours of signing and meet facility passing standards
- Orientation/Healthstream: complete Healthstream modules by the stated deadline; failure to complete may result in denial of orientation
