Responsibilities
- Deliver direct, compassionate nursing care to adult and geriatric patients on a mixed medical-surgical/acute care unit; perform ongoing assessment, develop care plans, implement interventions, and reassess as needed.
- Monitor and manage respiratory needs, including oxygen delivery and non-invasive support, and respond to changing patient conditions promptly.
- Establish and maintain peripheral IVs and manage medication administration, including insulin and anticoagulants as ordered; support wound care, wound VACs, drains, and post-op care as appropriate.
- Recognize and assist with escalating changes in patient status; participate in rapid response and code team activities; maintain isolation precautions and PPE use as required.
- Document accurately in Epic; coordinate with interdisciplinary teams (PT, Respiratory, Social Services, Pharmacy, Radiology, Transport) to support patient recovery and safe transfers.
- Maintain flexibility to float within competencies and cover weekends; participate in unit coverage as needed and adhere to orientation and onboarding requirements.
Requirements
- Active nursing license: State or compact nursing license must be in hand at time of submittal.
- Certifications: BLS required.
- Experience: 2 years of Med-Surg RN experience preferred; travel experience required; Level II trauma experience preferred.
- Skills: Proficiency with Epic charting; strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills; ability to work in a fast-paced, diverse adult/geriatric population.
- Scheduling: Ability to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Onboarding: 24 hours of orientation; onsite RN modules (4–6 hours) completed during orientation.
- Compliance: 100-mile radius rule; pre-approved time off: 1 per contract.
